スマホで多聴多読 ― Oxford Bookworms Appの紹介

多読用のGraded Readersをスマホで、いつでもどこでも利用できる、Oxford Bookwormsのアプリの紹介です。

紙のGraded Readersよりも安く、(機械音声ではなく)ネイティブのナレーターによる読み上げ機能も付いているので、リスニングや音読練習にも使えます。わからない単語をロングタップすると意味を調べられる機能や、単語テスト機能もあります。

＊(2)「文字を追いながら物語を聴くのをお楽しみ下さい」という意味で、本来は次の3通りの表現が適切だと思われます。

①listening to the stories (which) you follow its text

②listening to the stories (which) you follow the text of

③listening to the stories as you follow the text (←構文は違いますがこれが一番自然でしょう。)

ここでは、the textのtheを、itsの感覚で使っているのかもしれません。

また、命令文ですが、相手の利益になることなのでpleaseは不要です。このような命令文は広告でよく用いられます。

＊(3)「どんどん読んで、英語力向上を目指しましょう」という意味です。これと似た「V your way to」には、例えば次のように、いろいろなバリエーションがあります。

fight one’s way to power: のし上がって権力を得る

cheat one’s way to the top: ズルをして1位になる

buy one’s way to freedom: お金で自由の身になる

push one's way to the exit: 出口まで押し進む

push one's way up to Ozeki: 大関に昇進する
